A course description...
Hi-Line Engineering, LLC will be presenting seminars in Overhead and Underground Staking. The courses will target engineers, staking technicians, and linemen. The safe, reliable and effiicient design of overhead distribution lines will be the focus of the overhead course.
The seminar will take time to clearly show example problems and application of the NESC rules. We will provide applicable design calculations and easy to use lookup tables for guying and pole top pins.
Who Should Attend
The Overhead Staking Seminar is beneficial to all levels of staking expertise. Novice staking technicians will obtain a working knowledge of correct staking methods and procedures. Construction personnel such as lineman and supervisors can learn the reasons why lines are built and designed to certain specifications. Engineers can gain knowledge that will aid them in preparing design guides for their individual utility's standard conductors, poles and assemblies.
Hi-Line Engineering, LLC
Hi-Line Engineering, LLC along with our parent company GDS Associates, Inc. specializes in providing engineering consulting services to the electric utility sector. Hi-Line provides training services that are beneficial to all levels of expertise including engineers, line personnel, and staking technicians. Our instructors have field experience in designing distribution lines and continue to design and inspect power systems. Their real world experience is conveyed in our training seminars. We teach methods on how to apply the NESC in day-to-day design and construction of distribution systems. Our mission is to impart the knowledge to allow our students to design distribution lines that are safe, reliable and efficient.
About the Instructors
Kevin Mara and Richard Lovelace combine their strengths to present the course material. They have co-authored the Simplified Staking Manual for Overhead Distribution Lines which is currently being revised with their assistance.
- Kevin Mara P.E. provides engineering consulting to electric utilities. Mr. Mara's experience lies in planning, design, construction and operation of overhead and underground distribution systems. Mr. Mara has been teaching electric courses for 10+ years. He has a unique ability to present complicated concepts and formulas with easy to understand examples.
- Richard Lovelace is a Registered Forester with 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry. He started out as a lineman and moved into engineering and line design. He has designed hundreds of miles of distribution line throughout the southeast. His experience as a lineman helps to keep the presentation of the NESC rooted in real world application.
Kevin and Richard have trained more than 2,500 people on a variety of topics related to the design and construction of electric lines. Their success as instructors and trainers is illustrated in the continued popularity of their training material.
