Right of Way Management
Hi-Line has a registered forester on staff. W. Richard Lovelace provides guidance to utilities regarding the maintenance right-of-way clearing, trimming, and herbicide application. In the regions of the country where rainfall and sunlight combine to produce vigorous plant growth, the utility's right-of-way maintenance budget is usually second only to the wholesale power budget. Valuable maintenance dollars can be saved by proper planning and analysis of site specific clearing cycles, herbicides, and the equipment necessary to efficiently clear the right-of-way. Using his knowledge of plant physiology and the operation of power systems, Mr. Lovelace can design an efficient plan for controlling the growth of vegetation on the distribution right-of-way and manage its implementation. Hi-Line uses GPS and GIS technology to collect data, prepare clearing schedules, and maintain quality records.
